The Final Two Days of Racing at Speed Week

The final two days of racing at the USA Southeast Crit Series were in Charlotte, NC and Sandy Springs, GA.  These were certainly lower key events than the twilight criteriums during the week, but the racing was just as intense.  Both races were a switch from what we had become accustomed to during the week. For one, [...]

    Speed Week Day 3: Beaufort

May 4, 2011 (Beaufort, South Carolina) – I think this race tested me more than the others. After going down a few times (3) at Roswell, it took a few laps to become fearless again. Beaufort is a fast narrow course and I found it very hard to move up. UnitedHealthcare was in full control [...]

Race Report from Day Two of Speed Week: Roswell

After the intensity of the night before, it was truly amazing that everyone was ready to go at it again.  A slight uphill slant on the back straight of this course in historic Roswell, GA coupled with some tight turns added a whole new dynamic to the race.  On the other hand, the pace was [...]

Race Report From Athens Twililght Crit

Standing on the start line, looking down Clayton St, I couldn’t quite tell what was louder; the beating house music reverberating through the BBQ smoked filled streets of Athens, GA, or the screams of 40,000 Terrapin fueled fans gathering to see 180 riders go to battle.  Maybe it was just my heart beat pumping with [...]
